Xsara Remote Key Locking

Hi
I have a 98 Xsara VTS. Recently my battery failed on me and I have had to buy a new one. Since this happened, I am no longer able to use the key blip thing to lock/unlock the car and have to use the key as normal. Does anyone know why this could have happened? Will I have to get this re programmed (hope not) or is there something I could do myself.

I presume you mean the key battery, as I have been frequently disconnecting my battery lately and it hasn't affected the remot.
You need to reinitialise the key. You should be able to do this by switching the iginition on and then pressing the button. Let us know how you get on.

Sorry I should have been more specific. I meant the car battery, it died on me, hence having to buy a new one. I will try re initialising.
