my 406 td exec blower only works on full!!, am i doing something wrong with the settings? it just dies when i knock it down from 5 bars to 4. any ideas anyone? thanx

This is caused by the resistors failing in the fan circuit.quite a common problem and easy to fix i think, do a search on this forum its been mentioned before.

If you arrring to the heater fan, I had similar problem. I took the unit out, cleaned it up espec the winding, it works fine now. hope this helps.

Hi
First thing, UNPLUG the fan! You will start to melt the wiring loom if you dont!
Either fix your fans resistor or replace the fan with a good second hand one from the scrappy.
Pop the carpet trim off from below the dash / glovebox, Its held in with 3 x black plastic push rivits, You will see a big black round fan shaped object, Thats it, Now unplug the brown 4 pin connector.
The fan is only held in with 3 or sometime 4 screws & its really easy to remove & refit, Just make sure the ignitions off first!
This fan is fitted to most Peugeots & Citroens so getting a good second hand ones fairly easy.
