Differences in steering racks?

Hi all!

The rack on my C5 x7 has finally given up.

From what I understand, there's 2 different racks...and I need to make sure I get the right one?

If so - how do I know which rack it is?

I'm going to get a refurbed one.

They were very good when I went, they seemed "well practised" at the job

You will still need to mod the pinion shaft when you get how to prevent another failure.

Was it not 3 types ?...early cars, low spec with 16inch wheels, "normal" cars and v.6's ?

From the photo it appears right but all the racks are very similar.
What details did you pass to the supplier ?
The rack will depend on wheel size for 17",18" & 19" Citroen part no 98 014 154 80 for 16" is different can't find the part no at the moment.

They did one of my racks before! Apparently they refurb all the racks for GSF, euro car parts etc...

Literally all they do is racks.. had thousands of them in the warehouse

I bought a reconditioned rack, and seller assured me it would be correct.

However it turned up with part number "7832.501.318" on it.

And also " 9506 1.1"

Any ideas if this is correct? There's a few mentions of this on the forum, but no definitive answer..
