Morning,
A few weekends ago I was happily driving along the motorway in my 2012 Berlingo 1.6 HDi when the engine cut out, all the dashboard lit up and I was forced to pull over. The car would not restart and I was forced to await rescue.
Recovery mechanic came and moved me to nearby services for a good look at whats was what. The car would turn over but not start.
He checked fault codes and he suggested that there had been both a high and low fuel pressure fault. He used a bit of starter fluid (I think, I am not a mechanic) and the car would fire up on that but would not run. He suggested that this could be a fuel pump issue. He asked if the car had been acting strange prior to this, and to my best recollection, it was fine. It had run no probs for over an hour that day already. However, thinking back there may have been one of 2 occasions in the recent past of the engine being a tiny bit slow to respond to the accelerator. Maybe. I cannot be 100% of this as generally the car does not fly off the start line anyway!
Back at home, my local garage has popped out to have a look and have got a bunch of fault codes which they have taken away to see if they can get any idea of whats wrong.
So has anyone suffered this before? To me the issue came out of the blue as the car had been working great. Its only really used for long journeys and can go a week or 2 without starting.
Any ideas? I do trust the local garage but I am curious to know if similar has happened to you lot and how it was resolved.
Thank you!

That's rather an open question, I'd wait for the garage's feedback and maybe post that for possible suggestions from here.
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Usually the only reason they stop suddenly when running is cam belt failure... although it would be odd if it ran on Easy Start. Easy enough to whip the top belt cover off and have a look - or even just open the oil filler and get someone to watch the cam shaft whilst you crank it and check it's going round.
