DV6ATED4 Euro4 oil filter leak back?

Unread post by citroenguy »

Hello
I've got a strange issue on my 407 1.6HDi.
When stood overnight, at start up it sounds like it needs to build oil pressure/fill the filter. Just like after an oil change (light rattle).
Does not do it after a work day, so time dependent.

History: Recently re-sealed the oil filter/oil cooler housing + new filter and oil (Purflux filter and correct total ineo ecs 5W30 oil)
Not sure how long it has been like this

Thinking it could be some relief valve in the filter housing, or just the filter? Fitted dozens of these filters but still mistakes can happen

Anyone experienced similar issue?

As far as I know, that little "peg with an O-ring" is what allows the oil to run out of the filter housing (Indeed loosen oil filter lid a few turns = lets the oil drain a bit ahead of removing the lid and element)

Does the recent filter have the peg?

It does have the peg and i inserted the filter first to make sure the peg goes in correctly.
I guess the peg o-ring could be damaged or wrong size.
I have a genuine filter, i guess could try an change to.
