Citroen c4 grand 2011 diagnostic tool

Hi everyone,
I own a Citroen c4 grand semi auto 2011 and I need a diagnostic tool to clear faults and calibrate to the cars computer.
I have seen the Lexia-3 / Diagbox are the go to for this and can be used on my 2009 207 also.
Now question, these connect to a laptop correct? And then do I have to purchase software for the laptop or a laptop designed only for this job?
They are just cables?
Google is giving me so many choices!
What do you guys have that you use? Or suggest?
My actuator is faulty and I will need to replace it, so I need something I can clear the fault codes with and then later after it has been replaced calibrate capabilities are required.
I miss cars that only had electrics to start and turn lights on!
Hope you can help! I am a confused diagnostic newbie!

Yes Diagbox is laptop based (ideally windows 10). You may or may not be aware but the Lexia/Diagbox interfaces available on ebay etc are fake copies of the genuine dealer tool so can bet hit & miss on what works, The software has also been hacked to allow someone that is not a dealer to install & use it, you wont be able to to do any programming that needs to go online as the Citroen servers will detect it as fake.

I am then assuming that you have to have a registration with the company to be able to use their interface, this the right assumption?
So if going to pursue the necessary equipment, best purchase from the lexia/diagbox companies direct is the best way to get this?

I have Diagbox and also purchased a LAUNCH X431 Elite V3.0 for Peugeot/Citroën. It allows programming and coding of some of the systems on later models that Diagbox does not allow without a PSA server account

That would only be needed if you were buying a genuine diagbox unit & licence which wouldn't be realistic (financially wise) for occasional DIY use.

Probably direct from China on the likes of Ali Express as that's where all the fake ones come from anyway then get re sold here on eBay/Amazon etc with the price jacked up.
