Hi all,
I have this pesky 3008 1.6 THP 5FM (EP6CDTM), 120 kW 163 BHP.
It's persistently throwing a P0012 code. It's been to several garages and has had, quite literally, everything about the timing replaced.
Timing chain, done twice. New OEM Peugeot phaser.
New vvt solenoid.
New camshaft sensor.
New oil pump with solenoid. Actual and specified oil pressure is correct throughout the rpm and load.
Oil galleries cleaned and blown out.
Camshaft seal rings new.
However, I've come across information, that it is possible for this engine to be out of sync. And that's what I am gearing towards. Perhaps the ECU sees that the intake is out of sync ever so slightly, doesn't throw a correlation code, but is unhappy with the degrees of vvt movement.
Apparently, apart from using a special gauge to check the timing chain stretch, when torquing the phaser and sprocket, YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO PUSH A 27MM SPANNER ANTI-CLOCKWISE. Apprently, or so what I have found, you need to, apart from the locking tools, actually gently PUSH a spanner the same direction you are torquing, as even when locked, the camshaft still has some play.
Can anybody confirm this? This, rather professional looking video shows this at the 4:30 mark
Thank you kindly!

You may get confirmation from this but I haven't watched it!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!
