For around 2 years I've had Opel Corsa with 1.5 blue HDI engine which I think is in a lot of Citroens so I'm posting this here. There's no Opel subforum.
In these 2 years I don't think I've ever seen DPF regenerate. I'm driving around 40:60 city - open road.
Before Corsa I've had VW Polo 1.6 and he regenerated almost every week. I would hear that the engine sound has changed and after I would stop the engine, the fan would continue working for 5 minutes longer.
Nothing like that in Corsa. Does it regenerate but I don't notice it? Every day I have about 1h to work and back 1h from work, and every 2 weeks I drive 300km on open road to visit my parents. Maybe it regenerates then?
I'm only afraid that the previous owner turned DPF off in the car computer and that at one point I would have giant bill to pay to fix DPF.
What are your experiences with this engine and DPF?

I have that engine on a Citroen C3 of the same year, it has Adblue and no Eolys fluid. It does not perform classic regeneration and it is difficult to notice that it is working at all. Sometimes the fan remains on after switching off. I installed a light that shows when it is regenerating, it is an LED connected to the heater of the left rearview mirror (on the driver's side). I have now traveled 1,800 km since the last regeneration.When he did the regeneration, it was during normal driving at 100 - 120 km/h.

With that type of use, the long motorway runs are probably adequate for passive regeneration to take place, ie, the exhaust gets hot enough by itself to burn off the soot.
Active regeneration is where the car adds more fuel (and maybe some other trickery, like the additional electric loads) to artificially raise the exhaust temperature.
