Xantia HDi transponder/immobiliser problem

Post by johnny »

Xantia 2.0HDi 2000(W reg)
Having various problems at the moment the most serious being not starting. Everything fine then suddenly no go!
Switch ignition on and orange coloured key light comes on recognises transponder in key and goes off (car starts okay)
Switch ignition on now. No orange key light (car does not start)
Anyone got any ideas as to the problem or is it possible to bypass the immobiliser so I can at least get the car to a garage?[?]

Have you tried your spare key? It could simply be a knackered key transponder. failing that it could be the receiver aerial in the steering column (assuming a similar layout to the Laguna).
Other than that it does look a little bit like the imobiliser could be playing at silly beggers. I know a few twoc-ers (my job im afraid, not my social choice) so i will ask about overriding the Xant imobiliser - its bound to be easy!
