Steering angle problems

Unread post by FinnCitro »

Hi
My car is a C2 1,6 L VTS 2005.
My vin is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
The ABS light is burning. The shop told me to order a knew unit which I did.
They told me to order 6242 N0. Is this the right part ? What part were installed in 2005.
When you google this part you will find compatible parts related to this part for instance
96616082TX and 96576794TX.Are these manufacturers partnumbers and sre they
compatible .Do you know of any shop repairing these units ? If the parts I orderd is faulty.
How much do I owe you for this information ?
Best Regards
Clas Ellenberg

6242 N0 is the Valeo part number for the comms 2000 unit. Is that what you are looking for? :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

I have a one picture of the stalk with the sticker but I cannot (not able to) put it here, but here is what it says.
The Valeo partnumber (?) 96576794XT, the date 25.07.2005 F but surprice surprice
COM 2002.but you say comms 2000, confusing. !!!
The part was sold as 6242 N0 but this is what I will get next Friday.
To answer your question mick ...
Yes, that was what I was looking for, Thank you for your comment.
Final comment: It is not nice to own a car you cannot get spearparts to but we ( my wife and I) we like so much. It is fast 8,1sec.0-100 km/h,max velocity over 200 km/h, it is small, easy parking.
All the best

Just a note, the steering angle module has to be setup correctly. For the C5(X7), you have to drive for a set distance (100 yard ish) with the diagnostics equipment plugged in, in a very straight line - took me three attempts because of the road camber.
Has your mechanic tried to recalibrate the one you have as above?

I do not know. The foreman called me and said they need a new clockspring.I was happy because I just got one from China (13 €) but he ment a new comms unit, dammit.
The car is at the repair shop so they will do it.But thanks for the information.I might need it later on if the new part doesent fit (wrong connector ?) for instance and I have to order another com. Many things can go wrong, I do not know what I am doing just following orders.
