Citroën Berlingo 2017 1.6 Petrol A/C Stopped Working (Codes C0040
Hi everyone,I have a Citroën Berlingo 2017 with a 1.6L NFU Petrol engine. The car cranks strongly but won't start. At the same time, the A/C has completely stopped working.A diagnostic scan showed these DTC codes:C0040: Brake Pedal Sensor / : Brake Switch / Stop Lamp Information FaultMy fuel pump is priming normally. Could these brake sensor codes be putting the ECU into a strict safe/limp mode that cuts both the A/C compressor and the engine ignition/injectors? Or do they share a common fuse/power line in the BSM/BSI?Any advice on how these faults are linked would be highly appreciated! Thanks.

ER...the A/C is not going to work if the engine is not running. Is that what you meant to say? Or do you mean the blower motor doesn't run? Or the A/C stopped working before the engine stopped working? Either way, forget about the A/C until you get the engine running.
Are you sure it's a TU5JP4 engine in a 2017 vehicle? OK, I'll assume so then.
The brake switch has two sets of contacts. One set operates the brake lamps. The other operates a set for an automatic transmission (and coherence of the brake light circuit, but don't worry about that). If it's whining about the brake light side, that's easy to check, just look and see if the brake lights are coming on. The other set would only affect an automatic vehicle. And even then, it would only cause the shifter to be stuck in park.
To answer your question, no, it shouldn't stop the engine from running.
If the system DID need the brake circuit to be functional for the engine to run, then it would lock out the starter...but that's running.
You could just replace the switch outright. That should fix the C0040 error but it won't explain why the engine won't run.
Has the vehicle had any work done to it lately? Have you checked all the fuses? How long have you had the vehicle?
My next step would be the immobilizer. Have you done anything to the keys? Changed the shell of the keys?
