eC4 - Where is the motor number located?

Unread post by redwasjoe »

Hi all,
I am unable to physically see the motor number for an eC4. I need it to register/import the car to Ireland. I know that I can read it on the V5C. Unfortunately, officialdom being as it is, they insist on seeing a physical stamp on the motor.
Anyone know where that stamp/plate/etch is to be seen?
The original registration date is 09/2023.
Please help.

Which number are you referring to specifically? :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

On the V5C, there is a section for Engine Number. In an electric car, this is actually the motor number, which is supposed to be stamped on the electric drive motor block, but I cannot find it...short of taking the car apart.

You could get an endoscope and go searching on top of the motor under the onboard charger and see if you can spot a plate :)

Would they be that dumb?
I guess I'll have to buy a cheap endoscope and see if they are. Let you know in a day or two. Thanks.

Is there a dealer near you who you could ask?

Thanks Richard_C,

I found that label on the motor. I hope that satisfies the inspector. The number is, as you said, on a sticky paper label, and it begins with 10...........
The 10 is not part of the number on the V5C. The rest of the number matches the V5C.

It's amazing to me, that simple metal brackets have parts numbers stamped into them, but the most expensive part on the car relies on a sticky label!

Hope that label has strong adhesive!

If you can see it with a camera take a photo.
