Hello, I am new on the forum, I'm writing this in the hope of finding some help.
I am the owner of a nice Xantia that unfortunately is leaking LHM at quite a slow pace, it seems like the leak is located below, left and forward (if that makes sense), closer to the rear than the front wheel. I think the first owner of the vehicle actually tried to repair the leak manually with a pipe and a collar (see picture)

and that it may have not held up, however it seems like the leak goes beyond it. The leak comes through "the shield" and it's bolts (see picture)

I also notice the leak seems to be going down some kind of a "highway" to the rear (see picture)https://www.pasteboard.co/LYk75W_8nPZD.jpg
Looking forward to any help.
Thanks.

It looks like there has been an attempt to repair a low-pressure return pipe. You really need to clean the area with brake cleaner, or a suitable solvent to remove the oil and dirt so that you can see exactly where the leak is.

I think that the hose with the repair may be the ABS and steering valve return line (LHD) part number "5270R1".
You can see it in this document: http://xantia007.free.fr/19_circuit_retour_fiche.php? on the 5th page (but I may be wrong).

Thank you very much for your answer, my car does not have Hydractive suspension. I have had one or two responses from french guys, one of them technocitro which is one of the biggest sellers in France for hydraulic parts and from the photos he said it probably was piece "5270 JK" which from my understanding is suspension return or power steering. I will look into your answer and the parts you think could be the issues.xantia_v6 wrote: 03 May 2026, 19:12 It looks like there has been an attempt to repair a low-pressure return pipe. Good call on just cleaning it up though, I will.
