My car: CITROËN C5 II Break (RE_) 2.0 16V (RERFJB, RERFJC) (RFJ (EW10A)) (103 kW / 140 hv).
The gear (manual) doesn't work. Luckily, 2nd gear was left on
I was backing my car onto a forest road. I backed over a small ditch. Then I heard a loud bang.
The sound was like I had hit a rock. Only typical forest terrain under the car. No rocks etc.
However, I managed to disengage the reverse gear and, in desperation, tried to get away by shifting into forward gear.
Now the gear stick just swings wildly and I can't select any gear.
The clutch works though.
The last gear selected, apparently 2nd, was left on.
I drove home 17 kilometers in low gear.
I took off the center console. It was a pretty easy job.
I checked the engine compartment to make sure the cables and their covers were in place.
I removed and disassembled the air filter housing to see where the gear selector cables were located.
I was able to move the black flat iron. Three different horizontal positions on that iron.
It was difficult to photograph that piece of iron with a phone.
However, some markings/text were found: JG24 and possibly 7649 B.
I have found a picture showing the gear selector and cables.
Is there any part in the car's chassis under the center console near the gear selector that might be broken?
Regards
