Berlingo 1.9d power steering line problem

Unread post by bkscrwl »

Hi everyone,

I have a 2006 Citroën Berlingo (m59) 1.9D (DW8 engine, manual hydraulic steering) and I’m working on the power steering return lines. I need the metal pipe placed near headlight to the oil tank. I’m a bit confused about the OEM parts 401238 and 401356. I don't have the old original metal pipe since it's replaced with a 12mm hydraulic hose directly goes to the tank. I ordered the 401238 but later I figured it's most likely the wrong pipe, I guess 401238 is for the rack side, and 401356 is the one that placed under headlight. So I wonder how does this pipe affect steering feel? What is the inner diameter of the hose or the original metal pipe used in this power steering return line on the DW8 system? Can I use 401238 pipe instead of 401356 or should I return it? Are the inner diameters of these two pipes the same?

The size and type of the return pipe to the tank won't affect the feel or performance of the steering, so you can use whatever is convenient that is not smaller that the original diameter.

Thank you for repyling!

May I ask do you know what is the original inner diameter of this line? Is it the same diameter as the return inlet of the pump?

Can I use this pipe:

instead of this one:

because I ordered first one by mistake and the shipping was costly
