Hello everyone,
I recently purchased a Peugeot 408 and I’m experiencing an issue. The check engine light is on, and the message “Repair Engine” appears on the screen. When diagnosing it with Diagbox, I get the following error:
F023 Fault: absence of communication with the multifunction screen ECU or the telematic unit: not characterized.
My car has a radio with a retractable screen in the center, and everything works perfectly fine (navigation, Bluetooth streaming, CD, audio, etc.).
I suspect the fault may be due to incorrect coding done via Diagbox by the previous owner (there were some other issues caused by wrong coding that I was able to fix and clear by restoring the correct parameters).
This fault also generates the following error:
U0140 Fault: absence of communication with the BSI ECU: not characterized,
which consequently turns on the check engine light.
Is there a logical approach or troubleshooting path I can follow to resolve this?

Simple things first, check the plug connections at both ends for tightness, dampness or corrosion and then carry out a BSI reset following the procedure in the link below. You will then have a 'clean' place to start looking from.

I followed the procedure, but unfortunately without results. However, I did some more testing and discovered that the problem lies in some edits made to my RT6 system using DATExplorer. To repair it, I will need to get an original User_config.dat file.
Do you think it's possible to find it online?

Thank you for your response.
I took a look, downloaded the firmware, and updated it, but without success.
I also took the opportunity to run some additional tests. Even after disconnecting the RNEG, the error persists (which makes me believe this rules out a problem with the unit itself). The error only appears after starting the vehicle (if the error is cleared and the engine is not started, when connecting Diagbox the next day it will still show no errors). This leads me to believe that when the vehicle starts, the BSI is waiting for a signal from something that was configured, and since that signal never arrives, the error occurs.
Everything in the vehicle works perfectly (GPS, radio, audio, Bluetooth, CD, steering wheel controls, onboard computer, etc.).
This is the current BSI configuration.

Edit:
Solved, everyone thanks!
It was actually related to the RD6 screen configuration. After changing it, the F023 fault disappeared and, consequently, the U0140 as well.
