A couple of weeks agoinstead of my usual filling up with a full tank I topped up with about 14 lt of Deisiel.I admit I dribble fed the last bit above the 3rd click.
The fuel gauge did not register what I had put in and stayed 2 divisions down
In the time since then to now ive driven arround and the gauge has registered further down wards to 4 divisions.
The visual appearance of the gauge level is consistent with miles to go .
Today I filled up again and stopped at 3rd click input arround 12.18 lt
The gauge has not moved again
I found errors U1218 in the main engine ecu Communication fault with BSI comunication not valid and 05FF in the BSI Unexpected re initialisation fault coming from the BSI
Ive cleared both faults re run diagnostics and they have not re appeared
Ive tried BSI reset, and 3 different re initialisation sequences on U tube for the fuel gauge, all to no avail.
Any one got any sensible sugestions, do I trust the gauge is mecanically working or yank it out and check

As that sounds like a calibration issue I would run the tank right down and then fill up and see what the guage does.
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

I thought it was normal to stop filling on the first click, trying to get even more in might overfill the tank if possible. How come you are having to top up only such a small amount, is it in case garages run out of fuel as I would have thought the tank will hold about 45 litres ?
There is a similar topic here for a C3 where somebody filled up too much and the gauge started to work again normally after driving 200 miles so probably half a tank used up. viewtopic.php?t=68792
