Suspension and part number

Unread post by Spence4032 »

Hi
I hope someone can give me some information on a couple of things.
The first question is..... when I park my Citroen C5 exclusive (estate) half on the road and half on the pavement and leave it, I start seeing suspension fluid leaking onto the road and also coming out of the suspension tank lid. What would cause this and is there a fix for it?
Second question is..... does anyone have the correct part number for the rear drivers side brake caliper on my C5 ?
Hopefully someone can give me an answer and point me in the right direction.
Thanks

John

Correct quantity of fluid? It should be checked when at it's set to its lowest position.

Why, as there may be a cheaper fix.And while I'm asking question, what age/model is your car?

Hi
Thanks for reaching out.
I know the correct amount of fluid was in the suspension bottle as I checked it with the car in the low setting.
Also the car is a 2010 C5 exclusive estate model with electric parking brake.
Do you by any chance also know where the rear parking sensors control box/module is located?
Thanks

As it is coming out of the top of the tank it IS massively overfilled....LHM cannot replicate itself. (just touching the lowest point in the tank neck filter on level ground on Low).
I take it you have looked under the cap and it is full to the brim......and are not just assuming that is where the leak is from ?
(I say this as the very common steering pinion seal leak would show, drip on the ground under the same area, it must be said, it is rare to happen in a LHD car however)

A much much smaller chance the tank is split at the seam or the connection to the pump...much smaller.

Car engine size/date is needed to know the caliper type...

A common thing on the C5 X7 is the LDS tank splitting (as mentioned above), this can happen if it is jacked up without first slackening the tank cap and leaving it slack until the car is back on the ground. Before doing this it should also be set to the max height with the engine running, then once at max turned off and the cap can be undone. There is likely to be something in the hand book about jacking up but it may not mention undoing the cap.

I have put the car in the low position and unscrewed the cap to check the level. The fluid is just visible near the top of the tank (does this mean it is over filled ? ).

It must be just visible at the BOTTOM of the filler opening when the car is in the low position!!!
What you see in the other post is if you use the diagbox to put the car at the lowest possible position

Yes, very much so, by about 1 1/2 ltrs !

DO NOT put it in Low until you get some of it out.....it will make quite a mess

Regarding the brake caliper- my car is also a 2010 C5 Exclusive (with the electric handbrake). I had a sticky rear caliper last summer and I fitted one of these...

...which was a nice quality thing.
I did the other side the year before and fitted an Apec but it was clear to me that the Febi branded part was better quality.

In the replacement market there's only one part number per side for the rear calipers with electric handbrake.
