DS3 1.6 THP Petrol - Issues Galore !

Unread post by Stew1982 »

Hi,

I'm at my wits end here and need some help please.

Vehicle: 1.6 THP Petrol - EP6CDT engine VIN engine code SA5FV, 83k.

Bought the car in December, EML on within hours, garage conveniently 'wound up' within a day so I've no chance of claiming/returning. It apparently had been mapped so the mechanic has removed this.

Work done (by mechanic): Chain, rocker, rocker gasket, plugs, coil, air intake, cranckcase breather hose, PCV in the cover, oil leak fixed.

STILL cannot accelerate with any power as it trips and misfires but can drive gently (under circa 3500RPM).
I'm still getting a rough idle, fault code P3011, smoking/oil smell.

Mechanic seems to think there's a low pressure fuel sender problem as in it's weak so could do with replacing. I know the HPFP for these is an absolute mare, but according to the values it seems 'ok'.

Is the fuel sender likely to cause ALL these issues? or is it likely the chain isn't done correctly?
Should I replace the HPFP as this is seen as the main culprit by most people?

Please french car forum, you're my only hope.

Which model DS is it? :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Is P3011 the only code you are getting now?

DS3 - sorry !

At the moment, yes. Had other codes all fuel rail/timing chain related.
It might be a bit coked up too but there's too many issues that make me think it's more than just that.
Thanks

P3011 typically indicates that the throttle is not controlling the idle properly, which could be due to a vacuum leak, or a faulty throttle body. Has the idle calibration procedure been done?

Thanks for the help so far,
I had a lovely recurrence of the P1337 cylinder 1 misfire as well today.

What would cause a vacuum leak? I've had pipes changed and the breather hose. Could the PCV in the cover be an issue?

Also noted that I'm going through oil faster than donald trump - 1L every 300 miles !

Excessive use of oil is not a good sign. These engines seem to suffer from gummed up piston rings (if the oil has not been changed regularly) and this causes blowby which forces oil vapour through the PCV systems into the engine to be burnt. It would also encourage the build up of carbon in the inlet ports.

If you remove the oil cap and rev the engine, is the a bit or a lot of oil vapour pushed out?

The PCV valves in the top cover are also suspect.

Have you had over-boost or super-knock codes (since the timing chain was replaced).

I have a sneaking suspicion it will be coked up as it was a lemon I was sold.

I'll check the oil cap situation after work, there is a slight bit of oil on the top cover and lord knows where that keeps coming from but it could be part of the oil usage issue.

Not that I know of, what are these codes you so wisely speak of?

Because of course it wouldn't be fun Friday....
Now I have P601F, P3010 & P2101. So it seems likely that it's coked up to the hilt and absolutely canes the actuator.
