Help with faulty ECU

Unread post by Cdafonso »

Hi everyone,

I'm from Portugal.

I’m looking for some help identifying the correct ECU model for my Citroën C2 1.1 petrol (2004) using the VIN number.

The problem started when the car stopped running and the mechanics diagnosed a fault with the ECU. Since then we’ve been trying to repair or replace it. Unfortunately, the label on the ECU currently installed in the car is missing, so it’s difficult to identify the exact model.

The mechanics first tried to clone the ECU, but they are having trouble reading or cloning it properly. Because of that, they suspect something may not be right with the unit.

To make things more confusing, the last mechanic told me that the codes from the ECU don’t seem to match the rest of the car’s electronics, which makes him think that the ECU currently in the car might not be the original one that came with the vehicle.

At the moment, I only know that the ECU is a Magneti Marelli unit with 3 connectors, but without the label we can’t confirm the exact reference.

Before I buy a replacement ECU or a full kit (ECU + BSI + key), I would really like to confirm which ECU model should originally be in the car.

Would anyone be able to help identify the correct ECU from the VIN?

VIN: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately the Admin Team has lost the access to the VIN database so I cannot help but there are members with their own access and hopefully one of them will help you out. Good luck :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!
