C3 Aircorss 2026 spare wheel storage compatibility

Unread post by hpereira »

Hello,

I recently bought the new C3 Aircross Max Hybrid, new from the factory, but it was already ready to ship and was not possible to choose any extras.

One thing that I had as a requirement, but couldn't be added since the car was already out of the prodution line was the spare wheel predisposition.

Do you know if it is possible do use a winch under the chassi for the spare wheel? I found this part number 9810677780 for Citroen/Peugeot winch, but i am not sure if it is compatible with the new C3 aircross.

Thanks in advance for the help.

BR,

Hugo

As you have ordered direct from Citroen I suggest you ask the dealer as there may not be any owners of the latest model on here to help. :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

If you go to the configure car bit of the Citroen uk website it shows the option using the well under the boot floor so I doubt there is room for a winch. Normally there is a big plastic wing nut style device to keep the wheel in place, if you have a big accident you don’t want a wheel joining you in the drivers seat. It should be relatively easy to sort something out with a bit of diy. Remember you will need jack and wheel brace, and likely a “thingy” for getting any decorative caps off the wheel bolts.

That is with the spare wheel predisposition option, since i don't have that option, the floor boot is flat (see image attached). That is why I was concidering a winch. I saw that under the floor it has two screws in the middle (73 in the image) and a hole covered with some kind of tape, that looks like the hole for the thing that turns the winch and also some holes for the winch screws (71 in the image). I am just not sure if this is the right winch (part Nº 9810677780), and thought that someone has already done it.

There is a French user forum, planete Citroën, which seems to have a lot of users with the later models. You don’t have to sign up unless you want to post, you can read. If you don’t read French you can use google chrome and the translations are useable if you apply some common sense, I guess other browsers are similar.

As the same floorpan is used for a variety of power sources and a 5 or 7 seat version there seems to be differences depending on battery locations etc.. (My C4 mhev has a battery under the passenger seat but it’s pretty small capacity compared with some)

Here are 2 relevant topics.

Lots of adverts, unlike here, even more confusion about your question.

My is the c3 aircross 5 seater also mhev with the small battery under the seat.

Thank you very much for the tips, I already took a look at the topics on the other forum and it was very helpful.

Basically, there's no solution from Citroen. I'll have to take the risk and buy the winch and see if it works.

Thanks again!
