From South Africa to UK

Unread post by SAcharlieUK »

Good Morning, I've just stumbled across this forum whilst googling, mighty impressive. I've just relocated from South Africa to the UK after 12 years as my wife came back a few years ago because it was too hot🙄. I was impressed with her C3 Aircross every time I came back, so after a variety of other brands I bought myself a C5 Aircross 1.6 (non hybrid) Shine down there in January 2025. Stellantis had withdrawn them from the market so I got a bargain for £19500. When I then decided to relocate I decided to bring the car with me as it's right hand drive and the digital dash can change to imperial readout it's ready to go. But with no Euro CoC it means I've got to go through the IVA system before registration and I've got a booking as the Bristol DVSA centre on March 27th. I'm trying to gather as much information as possible to take with me. I know from the VIN it's from the French factory with a 2023 build date but seeing the full spec sheets that people have got through the admin here I'm hoping after I donate I'll be able to obtain the same.

Anybody who's thinking of importing from outside Europe can pick my brains as I'm an expert (frustrated) now. 😁

Hello and Welcome Charlie,

Unfortunately the Admin Team have currently lost access to the Stellantis database to get build sheets and part numbers, however there are some members with the ability to do that for the benefit of other subscribed members. Once you make a donation of £10 or more, from the Donation button above, your username will get the suffix 'Donor' under it in your postings and hopefully one of the members with their own access will be able to help. Good luck :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Any Citroen dealer should be able to lookup and print all the documents (build sheets etc) that you need.

it may be also worth searching which markets YOUR spec of car was sold in....that may also give you some good information for the IVA.
A search shows that the South African Citroen C5 Aircross models are manufactured at the Stellantis plant in Rennes, France.....are you sure the spec is not sold in the EU anywhere ?

A call with a "can you help me PLEASE" voice to a company that imports JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) cars may also give you some experienced advice....( https://www.jdm-imports.co.uk/ )...they might be amused (importing a Citroen :) ) enough to offer some advice to you. They will have LOTS of experience, it is a largish market, well enough to support a good few companies doing it regularly.

Thanks Alasdair, my wife has a good relationship with the local Citroen dealer, although they've given up sales now so I shall try there first. I was really hoping when the car arrived last month the owners plate would have a Euro CoC coding but unfortunately not.
