Hi all,
I have come to the conclusion that the full chip Lexias are incompatible with my 2000 Xantia in terms of airbag and aircon communication.
I have contacted someone with a 1999/2000 Xantia who also has a full chip and he did a scan for me. Same result - NO COMMUNICATION with aircon and airbag.
Is there anyone in the Midlands with a car around 2000 that they'd be happy for me to pop over and scan?

I was able to scan the aircon on my 2001 C5 with my kit which is now out on loan!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Perfect. I’d just logged in to PM you to see whether yours was a full chip or a Rev B.mickthemaverick wrote: 06 Mar 2026, 19:27 I was able to scan the aircon on my 2001 C5 with my kit which is now out on loan!![]()
Just going to have one final go at resurrecting my crusty Rev B.
If that fails. I will be making journey to pick yours up.
Good to know.

WE HAVE IGNITION!
As they say.
I have finally been able to successfully read all ECU's on War Horse bar the air con ECU which clearly has a fault on the wiring.
"HOW DID YOU DO IT?", you may well ask.
I spent the best parts of a day and a bit resoldering and resurrecting my old Rev B Lexia which I accidentally updated to Rev C. I initially thought that the earlier update was blocking it from communicating but it wasn't that.
What transpires, as many of your will already know to you chagrin, is that the quality of Lexia clones varies wildly.
Mickthemaverick reported to me that his Lexia (presumably a Rev B as he purchased it in 2001) worked successfully with his 2001 C5.
I contacted another guy who has an RHY engined Xantia and who had recently bought a Rev C full chip from AliExpress. His aircon and airbag ECU's are void of dialogue with his Lexia.
Having spent many hours, picking my brain and searching high and low, I have read many posts that say full chip Rev C units work with earlier cars. Of course, people tend not to be explicit when they say earlier cars.
I would dearly love to do a poll on who has what age of vehicle reading with a full chip and I dare say there won't be many out there that can categorically say they have a modern full chip that is reading their antique PSA vehicle.
I will most definitely upload a video of the successful read when my phone has charge in it and once I have resolved the storage issues on it so WATCH THIS SPACE!

Re: Ongoing Full Chip Lexia Issues (with older PSA vehicles)
Look forward to seeing the video on this.
I have read (and found) that on earlier Xantia's (with the 30-pin non OBD-1 port) the issue wasn't with the LEXIA VCI, but with the wiring in the cars themselves, which was not standard and there are several variations in the OBD-2 to 30pin adapter cables...

You are dead right there. I was only able to read ABS on my S1 and did read up about the wiring issue with the 30 pin adapters. A mate of mine actually has what possibly might be a really good quality 30 pin connector because that is all he would have been able to connect to cars with back in the day so I am going to try that on the S1 at some point to see if there is any difference.wurlycorner wrote: 09 Mar 2026, 14:04 Look forward to seeing the video on this.

I did try stripping mine down but it was surprisingly very good quality so I could only get so far into it!!!
I anticipate posting this week all being well. I have storage issues on my iPhone. I refuse to pay Apple £8.99 to move up to 2TB when I have a family Microsoft account which includes OneDrive. So my iPhone is chock bang full at the moment over 25000 photos and videos combined.
I did find an hour long video I took of my late mum's solicitor which I took to protect myself when I met with her down at the property 2 years after my mum died. They have robbed her modest £270k estate of around £40k in fees - thieving b******ds!
I deleted that video, after checking I had a copy on OneDrive, as it was 5.2Gb to free up some space. Then went into Deleted Items to delete it proper and accidentally click RESTORE! So my iPhone is still full...

Likewise - the cloud storage game (and tbh the way everything is moving to 'subscription services') is an absolute racket. And Apple in particular exploit it, with non-expandable memory phones.
