Citroen C2 vts 1.6 not starting

Unread post by joshcitroenc2 »

I fit the original airbox back into the Citroen c2 , in not sure if I hit any wires while putting it back, but the car isn't starting after I did that, then I found an old clip/cable/sensor plug under the oil filter with only 1 brown cable plugged into it,wrapped in tape. So I'm not sure if it could be that. When I try to start the car it just dry cranks,no sputtering. If anyone could help me out it would be great.

Just to confirm it was running normally then you replaced the original air box & it immediately would not start after this?
What checks have you done?

Could you post a picture of the stray plug? :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

SORTED,it was the oil pressure sensor's plug that was shorting out for some reason. I unplugged it and it started again.

Ok its dead again,i unplugged the oil pressure sensor under the oil filter because the wires were frayed and causing a short circuit making it so the car doesnt start, then after unplugging it,it started and ran, today i cleaned the plug with switch cleaner and now its not starting again even if its unplugged .

This is an oil pressure switch. It shorts to ground when there is oil pressure. So if it were to short to ground from a frayed wire, that would only give you a false oil pressure indication. I can't see how it would stop the engine from starting.
The "ECO mode" only indicates that the car has been switched on for more than 30 minutes without the engine running. It does not stop the engine from running! It will clear when the engine starts.

In the area of the oil pressure switch is the crank angle sensor. Fiddling with the oil pressure wires might be disturbing the crank angle wires/plug. The engine will not run without the crank angle sensor.
