C5 2001 abs permanent electrovalve fault

Hi, my C5 is a spare car, not often used but for emergencies and lend-outs, always passes its controle technique (france). I came to it the other day to find it barely had enough power to turn the motor over. I grabbed a known good one and started the car only to find abs esp fault. I grabed my lexia and found permanent electrovalve fault which I could not clear.
I see that some have had electrical problems with the abs block, I am happy to tear into it and do some investigating and soldering, but wondering if any one has any pointers? VIN VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

I have been living with this ABS fault for 3 years. It started off intermittent , occurring occasionally at any random time on a journey. Fortunately it did not occur during the MOT 2 years ago. However, it became more frequent until eventually it arose every time on turning on the ignition. Last November I fitted a second hand ABS unit (from Poland). I checked all connections and accessible wiring, but all was OK. It did the trick and it passed last years MOT. However, the warning returned after about 1000miles, again intermittently, and again increasing in frequency. Over winter, it appeared not to occur in very cold weather, and perhaps more likely in the wet...but difficult to be certain. It now occurs 1 to 5 miles into some, but not all, journeys. I tend to think it is not the ABS unit per se, perhaps wiring, or perhaps the cars electrics.. I also wonder whether the fault will again become permanent, on ignition, as before. I have another second hand ABS unit ready for this years MOT.

I say "cars electrics" because my car has a proven electric glitch which i have worked around. The MFD screen display would go unstable and unreadable. I went through several ECUs, each one lasting a few thousand miles before displaying the same problem. Eventually, I solved it by installing a stabilised, fully protected 12v power supply between the car and the ECU, and a switch to isolate the ECU. The switch enables me to start the engine before powering the ECU. The MFD screen is now perfect. BUT, if I forget to deselect the ECU before starting the engine the screen distortion occurs almost every time on engine start.
Sorry for the detour, but I do wonder whether the car's electrics is causing failures in other ECUs eg ABS.

On that PH thread, someone says "It appears to be a stuck solenoid valve in the hydraulic block."

I think that is worth looking into. There are bound to be actuation tests for each valve in the diagnostics to give them a workout. At the very least you'll be able to pin down which valve isn't responding.

In my Lexia, I have actuator valve manual operation including the Pump none of which operate I keep getting an error coming back on another menu he would seem that there is no power to the ABS block. I've checked all my fuses pulled them all out put them all back in but I'm still not getting any joy at all. Always started after trying to start with a very weak battery. I contemporarily delete the fault but it immediately comes back so I need a wiring diagram ideally in order to try and find out or verify that Power is getting to the ABS unit. If not I will do the ABS plastic top off and check the internals.

Is fine. I removed the abs and it’s last lid, soldered all the internals where it has been suggested these cause issues (YouTube) but still
Permanent electrovalve fault reappears.
So looking for a replacement. There are several on eBay but not the exact number on the label as mine, does it have to be? 10.0960-1113.3 on mine, I see several similar but the last few numbers are different. 1147.3 for example.
Will these work?

Just to let peeps know, i fixed my ABS Permanent Electro Valve Fault by replacing the plastic head (just two screws from the ABS motor side holds it on) with one with an identical part number off a scrapie.

Bighairybloke A question for you. Were you able to remove and replace the plastic head (the electronics control module, opposite to the pump) without removing the whole unit or disconnecting the hydraulic pipelines (ie negating the need to bleed)?

Yes, dead easy mate. Just two (torx?) long bolts hold it on.
