2011 Dispatch 2.0 hdi - No Start - P1198 Low Fuel Pressure

Hi Guys,

I pulled into a supermarket, van running spot on, came out after shop, turned ignition on to get some heat whilst I sent a text, after five minutes I tried to start van, turned over but no start.

AA man came and scanned which gave code P1198

I changed fuel filter and checked all low pressure fuel side up to high pressure fuel pump, all good. No Start.

I had an oil leak from the HPFP anyway so ordered a secondhand pump and new gasket. Fitted the pump, checked the low pressure side and pulled fuel through HPFP from return outlet using vacuum pump.

Battery fully charged and also jumping from second vehicle - no start.

Then I cracked fuel pipes from common rail at the injectors and cycled ignition, no fuel at all coming from injector fuel line connection? I then took off the high pressure line from outlet on HPFP itself, cycled ignition, no fuel at all coming from fuel pump?

Any ideas why I'm not getting fuel from the HPFP fuel outlet to common rail? My understanding is the pump is mechanical and electronic connections on the pump are for fuel metering etc?

I checked the 10am fuse at the fuse panel for pump anyway and it's good.

Any ideas/advice gratefully received!!

I've carried out further research and I'm pretty sure the fuel pressure regulator is not getting voltage to close so the fuel is bypassing the HPFP and returning to the tank. The vans outside and it's hammering with rain so haven't been able to check yet but will post once I've done so.

Fixed.

For anyone else experiencing same issue, low fuel pressure and no fuel to common rail, in my case it turned out to be the power connector to the fuel pressure regulator valve, it wasn't commanding on at key on so the fuel was bypassing the High pressure pump and returning to the tank.
