Citroen C4 2012 ABS Fault

Hi all,

Hopefully somebody can shed some light on this issue I’m facing. I have a 2012 1.6 Citroen C4 which has developed an ABS fault. I had the same fault but on left side a few months back and fixed it by replacing the sensor. So I thought I’d replace the sensor on the right hand side but fault was still there. So I proceeded to change the ABS ring and the fault is still there.

I’ve attached a photo of the faults from the diagnostic machine

It seems to be reading the speed from front right sensor okay..

Because of the faults the car is off the road as it’s undriveable as the fan stays on after the engine is turned off as well and it drives awfully.

Does anybody have any ideas what I could be? I don’t think it could be wiring as it’s reading the speeds correctly..

Hi mate.
Is the sensor that you bought a genuine Citroen part or is it at least the same brand as the one you fitted on the other side? I’ve had plenty of problems in the past with these cheap brands of sensors our local auto factors are supplying and they are absolutely s**t. I had a Citroen Picasso in one time and the car was having melt downs over a rear abs sensor and I got one from auto factors and it didn’t fix it and Citroen dealer took a week to get one out of Europe for me and they where awful to deal with. However the genuine sensor cured it and it’s been fine since. There’s a big possibility my post may not be of any help but I sure hope you get to the bottom of your problem. All the best.

Hi,

So I've replace both parts with a Febi one so not a genuine but a well known brand. The left side fixed itself easily enough but I'm having nothing but issues with the right hand side.

Replaced the full hub rather than just the bearing and replaced the sensor so I'm at a loss. Surely it can't be wire related if it's reading the speeds fine??

Have you had it on the road and done a live data? I’ve seen everything running fine for a half a mile and then all of a sudden a wheel speed difference occurring. Had a Citroen one time with broken wires at the rear on the axle but all looked fine until I stripped down and found corrosion on the wire. It still gave me reading but on test route it read differently but still would correct itself (but lights on dash stayed on). I just wouldn’t rule wiring problems out but this sort of thing could drive you nuts. Does the light come on as soon as you start the car or does it only come on when you drive it ?

I haven’t done a live data run whilst driving, how would I go about that as my machine doesn’t let me over 10mph. Someone on Facebook has mentioned diagbox

So if I clear the fault it won’t come on until I hit roughly 30mpg but once the light is on it’ll stay on every restart thereafter
