Hey all, I've recently got a 2016 Berlingo XTR WAV that has the Smeg head unit fitted. Long story short it's a terrible head unit so I I was hoping to swap it for an android one.
Given that these are obviously more than just radios, is it even possible to swap them out without getting load of warning lights on the dash? Meaning my only real option would be one of those portable carplay displays?
Thanks in advance.

Whatever you decide to do bear in mind that the system is intricately linked to the car's BSI and you may give yourself much more grief than the result is worth. I'd go for a standalone option!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

You say you're unhappy with the standard SMEG head unit but have you considered improving its integration with a mobile phone? There's a post here about using an Ebilaen box on an RT6 HU (made by Magneti Marelli. the same as your SMEG HU). viewtopic.php?p=855590
There's also a YouTube video here showing the box being installed into Mk2 308 which has the same SMEG unit as your car.
There are other similar boxes from other manufacturers but I have no experience of them.

YouTube offered me another option for the box from a company called AUTOABC. This video is in Romanian but fortunately with English subtitles. This unit seems to be a later version compared to the Ebilaen unit.
