e-C3 some noises and alerts ! Help

Unread post by Flashnc »

Hello everyone, as the owner of a Citroen e-C3, I have two questions. The one that bothers me the most is that whenever I park the car (this is where I notice it most), the car on the left (where it's loudest) starts making a "compressor-like" sound for a few seconds and then stops. Then I move forward, for example, and it starts again. Apparently, whenever I'm maneuvering, the sound is still loud and sounds like one of those small air compressors used to inflate tires. Is it normal for it to always do this? The other question is about a small symbol above the battery percentage that has a car + speaker + exclamation mark. What does it mean? Thank you for any help!

You should be able to find the symbol in the driver's handbook. :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

This is from a web search using duckduck.ai and sounds about right.

"Citroen e-C3 - The small symbol above the battery percentage that has a car + speaker + exclamation mark. What does it mean?"

The small symbol you see above the battery percentage on your Citroën e-C3, which features a car icon combined with a speaker and an exclamation mark, refers to a warning indicator related to the vehicle's external sound system.
Meaning of the Symbol

Car + Speaker: This usually signifies that the external sound system, which is designed to notify pedestrians of the vehicle’s presence, may not be functioning properly.

Exclamation Mark: This further indicates a cautionary note. The system is essential for enhancing safety, especially since electric vehicles like the e-C3 operate more quietly than traditional vehicles.

Recommendations

If this symbol persists, it is advisable to check the system as it might need inspection or servicing. Consulting your vehicle's manual might provide specific troubleshooting steps or details related to this warning.

For further assistance, contacting a Citroën service center would ensure any issue is addressed effectively.

I trawled through many pages of warning symbols but found nothing and gave up.

I guess it's speed related pedestrian warning, not sure if it's simply telling you it's working or that it ins't.

Cars make all sorts of sounds, shortly after you switch off you often hear the heating air intakes close etc. I wonder if you are simply hearing the steering power assistance and being electric you are more aware of it because there is no engine noise. Modern BEVs also have all kinds of battery management devices and maybe yours has a cooling fan for the battery pack and/or control circuits. No way of knowing really and as its probably very new and still under warranty you could ask your dealer service department if you go back to get the warning light sorted.
