I think you'll find it is a 32mm nut :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Possibly 35mm?

If still not sure then you could measure the one on the car or if it is meant to be replaced then buy a new one and measure that. If you do not have a caliper to measure it then use an adjustable spanner. Large 6 point impact sockets are usually cheaper than normal ones.

You also have the option of removing the strut from the knuckle.
Removing the strut from the knuckle or removing the knuckle from the ball joint have about the same difficulty. Except you don't need to remove the tie rod end or the drive shaft if you separate the strut from the knuckle. But aligning the strut and knuckle (if you do it that way) are a pain to do on the car! There isn't enough room in the wheel arch and pushing the lower control arm down is difficult. Even when you remove the strut and knuckle as one piece, there still isn't enough room. Well, only just enough room.

You can get a spreader tool that will do either (ball joint and strut). It's difficult to find something to spread the clamps on the knuckle, either the ball joint or strut. So good luck with that.

Don't just jack up one side of the car. Put the entire front end on two floor stands. Even if you are only doing one side. If you jack one side and leave one side on the ground, you wont be able to get the sway bar drop link off the strut! The sway bar will be twisted and the drop link will be under tension.

There are inner and outer holes in the in the chassis upper shock mount (cups). I believe the inner holes are used for assembly of the vehicle. The top strut mount locating pins go in the OUTER holes. For a 2009 C2 they are EXCENTRIC! LOOK VERY CAREFULY AT WHERE THE SHOCK MOUNT LOCATING PIN IS ON YOUR CAR! Getting the locating pin in the wrong place will upset the suspension dynamics and the upper shock mount wont sit in the chassis cup correctly.

So ive replaced one side so far today . Took the best part of 5 hours to do from start to finish .A bitch of a job Had to cut the top nut off the shock absorber as the 7mm hex hole was rounded off . Lucky i had bought 2 new shock absorbers . Just to let anyone know reading this that the front hub nut size on my Citroen c2 is 30mm
Got a 30mm socket from B&Q this morning for £4

The spec is M20 X 1.5. And the stock hex size is 30mm.
The size of the hex portion can change as the previous person working on the car may have used aftermarket nuts. The size of the hex is not proportional to the thread size and the nuts can be flanged or not, depending on the manufacturer.
