ZX 1.9i Volcane Speedo Prob

Hi all,
Just bought a ZX 1.9i Volcane and the speedo doesn't work. One garage said it could be the drive on the gearbox that's gone another said cable? Is there an easy way to test which bit it is?
And could someone give me the part numbers for the bits off GSF as i can't seem to find them.

Theres a service join on the cable near where it goes through the bulkhead, split here and you can prove which end you need to look into, I usually spin it with a small screwdriver with an accomplice watching the needle
