Random error: particle filter additive too low

Hi all

Randomly got this error. Which i am surprised at as in the UK its not ulez compliant.

Also, its a euro 5. I thought all cars with the eolys fluid where euro 6?

Is there anyway to definitely find out if it has this? What type?

What year is your car? :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

That's the DPF additive (Eolys) not AdBlue. Needs refilling, then a diag session to reset the warning. Tank is under the rear of the car in front of one of the wheels. Lots of YouTube videos. 1litre will be enough.

Generally speaking, Euro 5 means it has a DPF and Eolys fluid. This is to capture particulates (soot basically) which are then burnt off at periodic intervals.

Euro 6 has an Adblue system as well which is there to reduce the nitrogen oxides (NOx). Some, later, Euro 6 DPFs don't need the Eolys fluid but still reduce the NOx.

You have done well to get to 105k miles without it needing the eolys fluid topping up before. As a guide for the cost, we had our Cactus eolys fluid filled up at the dealer and including the diagnostic to tell the car it had been done it was £357. If you do not have it done the dpf can block up and need cleaning or replacing. It can be diy topped up but it still needs the diagnostic.

Our 2004 and 2007 C5s had eolys fluid and these engines I think were euro 4 so just having eolys does not make it euro 6.
