Heated windscreen

Hi all. I have a 2010 C5 Tourer Exclusive trim. Does anybody know if a heated windscreen was ever on the options list? Cannot see it in the handbook. If it was, what is the chances of it being prewired thus enabling a retro fit. Thank you.

I don't think it was an option at all 15 years ago!! They were available on Fords but I don't believe on Citroens.

I have a 2010-11 C5 UK brochure and have checked - it wasn't listed. That's not to say they never had them in any market - current C4 its not even an option in the UK but I think standard in some cold countries and is mentioned in the handbook.

Mick is right, it was and I think still is a Ford patent, I had one on my 'L' reg Granada - 1990? - my son has one on his current vehicle, a 2018 Transit. I know people like Mercedes licenced them early on for some models but not Citroen AFAIK. They are excellent but in the UK I wonder how much I would spend to get one, maybe to use 15 or 20 times a year.

As engines got more efficient, particularly around the time of the HDis, they took ages to generate enough waste surplus heat to demist the windscreen. An unintended consequence of good engineering

Thank you all for your input and clearing up the background. I never considered the license angle at all. The ford link makes sense because the last 3 and current 2nd motor are Ford related products. Jaguars and Freelander. The heated screen is used more often than expected to help clear misted windows too as well as the frost. Wet dogs and wet macs make for very misted windows in the winter!
