Hi all,
I am looking for advice on a peculiar case. I drive a 2009 Citroen Jumpy (Dispatch) with 1.6 hdi diesel engine, which obviously is starting to show some signs of aging.
From one day to the next, the windshield wiper fluid pump stopped working. Now, when I pull the handle to clean the windshield, the windshield wipers perform a few cycles (as they should), but no fluid is delivered onto my windshield.
The first thing I checked was the fuse in the BSM (under bonnet fuse box) underneath the bonnet. It was fine, but I replaced it nevertheless.
The second thing I swapped out was the pump itself. This also did not fix anything. I tested both the old and the new pump by applying 12V to it, and they both run fine.
As a next step, I tested the cabling from the BSM to the pump by applying 12V to it. Also, in this case, the pump runs fine.
I have also taken the steering unit apart to inspect the electrical switch that activates the washer fluid. What I found is that there is only a single electrical connection made, and since the windscreen wipers do come on when pulling the lever, I conclude that the switch must be functioning properly. I unfortunately cannot test anything in between the steering column and the BSM because it is just a whole bunch of digital circuitry.
All of the above led me to believe that a relay in the BSM (or something else in there) must be broken. On the internet, I also found that these BSMs are prone to breaking down and aren’t serviceable (all the electrical components are basically glued in). They aren’t really cheap, so I bought a used one and built it in (I checked the part number to be the same 9675878480 but it comes from a different car, see picture). This had the effect that everything worked fine, with the exception of the washer fluid pump (again!), and that the headlights did no longer turn on (the brights and city lights worked fine though!).
So I am stuck on what my next step should be.
Does anyone know whether there are differences in these BSMs despite having an identical part number?
And is there a way to test whether relays actually work on these fuseboxes, it could of course be that the BSM I bought second hand is also faulty.

The BSM needs to be configured using Diagbox or another suitable tool. It is best to reinstall the original BSM and record all the settings, then install the replacement and ensure that all the settings are the same.

I wouldnt have thought this part would need any configuration?
Sounds like you have been very thorough with your checks, next think you really need to do is get it on diagnostics & read the live data if the comms unit (wiper stalk assembly) & see if the command can bee seen when you operate the switch.

Thanks for your replies Xantia and wheeler!
I indeed was also under the impression that this BSM was just full of "dumb" electronics that didn't need any programming or configuration. Such that simply matching part number should be sufficient. Are you positive these need to be configured @Xantia?
For now I built the old one back (Not having washer fluid is not the craziest safety hazard) so I should be able to read the settings.
I unfortunately only own a very basic OBDII scanner so I will try to setup a version of Diagbox in the next days. (Is there a good thread on where to find a working version? )
