Foot rest 😡

Unread post by the2ems »

So I have a 2024 C4 C series, and I find the foot rest next to the clutch pedal more of a hindrance than a help. Is this removable, or is it a part of the structure?

That is the sort of question for a bodyshop engineer. I doubt it is structural but worth checking before you get the angle grinder out!! :)

Cheers, I wouldn’t do anything like that :rofl2: I was hoping someone might say “It’s just a couple of screws”

If this page is correct, it looks to be one M6 nut that holds it on:

https://catalogs.ssg.asia/citroen/?lang ... aWVyPT0%3D

Worth removing it and seeing what is underneath. I would not be surprised if an ugly (engineered) hole in the carpet (intended for the foot rest nut to interface with, presumably a M6 threaded stud that's part of the bodywork.

Obviously, a counter point suggestion, have you tried driving without your shoes on? :-D

Interesting. I have found out that a replacement appears on the spare parts list. So I’ve emailed the service manager of my local Citroen dealer to ask if he knows the answer.
And no, I haven’t tried driving without shoes, not sure if my feet would be up to that.

I think that's actually illegal now. You have to have some footwear on.

In January this year it was not illegal as such according to the RAC website but definitely ill advised for many reasons!! However as Paul suggests that may have changed since then? :)

Not any old footwear either. Flip flops are not permitted and I expect wellies to be the same. Anything that compromises the safe manipulation of the pedals.

It strikes me it's quite likely it's bolted on. I can't see Citroen making RHD and LHD floorpan pressings so an add on saves them inventory and money.

Highway code
The Highway Code - Rules for drivers and motorcyclists (89 to 102) - Guidance - GOV.UK https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway ... -89-to-102

Rule 97
You SHOULD ensure that:
...
clothing and footwear do not prevent you using the controls in the correct manner
I'd take my big clunky steel toe cap boots off and feel I was inline with the above :)

Anyway, back to the foot rest, I think the general consensus is that it does come off but we're not sure what's underneath. Best course of action is probably removing it for a look

Response from the Citroen dealer

“ The part cost is £38.78 with part number 98286420ZD. There are 3 available to order.
Apologies as we have not fitted one I can't confirm in certainty but from the diagrams the trim looks to be clipped in. ”

Looks like its hands and knees time. (Lets hope there is no whoops a daisy)

Probably not a foot rest but added to make room for some mechanical part that would otherwise clash with the floor.
