C5 X7 2012 replacement TPMS sensors

Unread post by richardmayer »

Hello,

I know, there are some TPMS-Topics already, but I did not find a solution for my problem.
I ordered new tyres and decided to replace the exisiting TPMS-Sensors after all the years.
I did not know, which ones were installed, so I looked around the internet and thought the Schrader OE 9811536380 were the proper ones:

After the tyres were attached I got these old sensors from the tyre garage:

So I started up DiagBox, and tried to program the new IDs of the new sensors.
The first thing I noticed: The new sensors ID is 6 characters long, the old one was 8 charcacters.
I thought "no problem" - after googling around I found out, that it might be possible to just fill up the first two characters with 00.
At first this worked, and I got the OK regarding the tyre pressure:

But after a few rides and and few days, I got the message, that the tyre pressure is not monitored, when pressing the "Check"-Button:

So I once again disabled TPMS via DiagBox, reenabled it, everything was OK, but again after a few days the pressure was not monitored any more.

So are the different sensors really not compatible to my 2012 car? Or do I have a different problem?
In the ServiceBox Documentation, I could not find any hints that the TPMS receiver in the trunk has changed between 2012 and the later model years.
If it was changed, it would be cheaper to switch the receiver from the junk yard than to buy new sensors...

Any ideas?
Best Regards
Richard

Why not just replace the battery's, remove the pink gel, then you see the type of battery and Google them. You find them with/without solder lips.

Thanks for the reply - looks like I have to consider that or get different emitters.

The TPMS Module really seems to have changed in September 2013.
The old one in my trunk is the 9664919880 and the new one seems to be 9807299980. The plug an the number of wires is different so I guess it makes no sense to consider upgrading the module.

The proper emitter modules seem to be 5430T4 for the 2012 C5 X7.
