308 1.2 low oil pressure faultcode, but has oil pressure

Unread post by Plarsson »

Hello, I am having problem with a Peugeot 308 2015 with the nutorius puretech 1.2. I recentely changed the whole engine, with internals and so due to previous engine faliure. Cambelt, oil, oil filter and much more was also changed.

The car drives like normal and no lights in the dash. But when going above about 3k rpm the service light comes on and a warning in the display. Then when going above about 4,5k rpm the STOP light goes on and the car goes inte limp home mode, cant go above 2k rpm.
After going above 3k it puts P15A1 (oil pressure lower than reference value) and when going above 4,5k it puts P15A8 (Oil pressure below minimum threshold)

From what I have read these are very common symptoms of a clogged oil pump, causing low oil pressure.
When looking at the live data it shows from 16-19bar, and the reference pressure shows 2,5-5bar.
Feel that the pressure is high, but i just changed the oil pressure sensor, because the old one didnt give any signal at all. The ground and signal cable are good, and it gets good 5v.

Does anybody have a clue what could be going on?
Thanks in advance :)

16 to 19 bar can not be right, the sensor might be faulty or the wrong one, was it bought from a Peugeot dealer or is it a copy part ? You could fit a pressure gauge to see what the pressure is.

I can not see how the oil pump could generate so much pressure unless there is a blockage and any relief valve is not working, even the cylinders will not get it this high if they were leaking in to the oil system. If this pressure is correct then maybe the fault codes detect the oil pressure somewhere else.

Did you rebuild the existing engine after the cam belt broke up - if so then there could be a blockage somewhere that is preventing the oil circulating.

Hello, the sensor is a copy with the same partsnumber. The engine was a trade in with a company that rebuilds engines. I dont know what has happened to this new engine previously. But it is supposed to have been cleaned and it really looks like it.

I will see if I have a oil pressure guage i can check it with.
But what do you mean that it might detect the pressure somewhere else. From what I have seen there is only one oil pressure sensor.

Hello again, I came across this picture and saw the solenoid (no.4) part number 96 750 817 80
It seems like that is a oil pressure regulator, will remove it and check if it is working.
But do you think that the fault codes could come from a broken regulator solenoid?
