307 hatchback Rear indicatorplug burned up

Unread post by MarcusPB »

Hi, would gladly take some input on what is going on here!

2006 307 hatchback.
The right indicator starting blinking double the speed in the car, after a good while the left starting to do the same. It turns out that both the wiring contact and the pin in the lamp holder in the rear is burned up on both sides. What could have caused this is my question. One theory I have is that the left one went because of the right one that started first, it got to hot with the double blinking on one side and transfered to the left one somehow. But, what caused this in the first place... There is no water, nothing is burned elsewere, a think...

Many thanks!! :)

regards, Marcus

Possibly a poor body earth connection so the lights are earthing through the wrong wires, also a poor/dirty connection could cause it to get hot. Using bulbs of a too high amperage could cause overheating but then it would be expected a fuse would blow unless the wrong fuse is installed.
