Is injector pilot relearn needed on earlier 16 valve 1.6 HDI?

Is injector pilot relearn needed on earlier 1.6 HDI?
mines the ubiquitous 90HP 1.6 HDI (9hx) from 2009 no DPF. EDC16c34 ecu

I've programmed in the injector codes for the four Bosch 0445 110 311
which were accepted.

Now this mr niceguy thinks correct codes are not enough and a injector pilot relearn is needed:


but that is for a ford and later model.

Is this needed for my engine (9hx)?

I'm getting excessive grey smoke after programming.
