Bipper van not starting

Unread post by hermitish »

Hello all,

Starting issue with our Bipper van hoping someone could advise.

Not starting with key in third position, makes no effort at all, no clicks. Everything else, dash/lights etc. are working and battery has been charged. Thinking something with the wiring but struggling to get any diagrams etc with where to check and the weather/location isn't exactly being helpful in terms of getting under the van right now. just wondering if anyone has any diagrams of where the wiring runs from the key to, I assume, a relay under the bonnet somewhere that activates the starter? All the relays in the engine bay fuse box are working but I don't think any of those actually correlate to the starter.

Going to try and check the back of the key/switch unit tonight if I can to check it's sending power out in the third position.

Thanks

Probably easiest to start with checking if there is power to the starter solenoid when you turn the key to crank then work back from there.

Didn't realise anyone replied sorry.

Initially checked around the key and everything seemed to be working OK there in terms of power. Eventually got under the van later in the week and power was getting to the starter when the key was turned when I was checking using a single point voltage tester. Annoyingly when I checked for voltage with a multimeter it started and has been starting every time we tried it since. Took it on the road today and as you would expect at the third stop the bloody thing wouldn't start again. Luckily wasn't far from home and got a tow, it started on a pull start but after parking up back at home it again will not start. Will check underneath again tomorrow to see if the power is still getting to it when trying to start.
