I have brought a car and was told the car had a new head unit......not quite sure that's the case.
I have noticed when running my diagnostic machines that the vin is coming up different to the cars vin. (The radio matches the car but there is a contant beeping) i use the artidiag800bt 2 and I am using the diagbox to go through the settings I have gone to the ecu to change the vin but it is asking for the original to be reinstalled so it can transfer over (i believe) the problem is i dont have the original so my question is: can I use the one that's on the car as the original and the one I'm trying to reset the vin or will it cause issues as it will be the same vin (until its changed) but I can't get there until ive got passed it wanting to copy
Thanks to anyone who can help and sorry if i have bored you if you can't. Thanks in advance Danny

Re: Ecu change vin
The VIN stored in the radio needs to match the one stored in the BSI, not the ECU.
Check & see what VIN is stored in the BSI, See if it matched the one in the ECU or the cars original VIN.
Best way to do it is to change the VIN that's stored in the radio to match whatever is stored in the BSI, dont try to change anything in the BSI or ECU.
If the BSI & ECU vin are the same its likely someone has replace the BSI,ECU & key from another car.
