I'm back

Unread post by Peter.N. »

Apologies for my absence for the last few months but we had a house fire in August and lost all my computer and ham radio equipment. We will be living in a mobile home for the next year or so while the house is repaired, I have a rigged up a temporary mains supply for the router (and the water pump) so have to work out how to extend the wifi range to reach the caravan.

We have had somewhat a nomadic existence since the fire and are at present staying at our son Martins house, He has just got me this computer and he has kindly set it up for me, we should be in the mobile home within the next few days, what a treat to be on a proper computer again!.

Thanks Mick for your good wishes, sorry I couldn,t get back to you but I lost communication with the forum and have only just now got it back.

See you soon

Peter

A very welcome back, Peter. I'd only thought earlier this week that we hadn't heard from you on the forum for a while. Hope you manage to return to normal service soon.

Gracious Peter, that's a tough thing to suffer at any time, let alone going in to winter. Fortitude!

Welcome back.
Hope you get back into your house very soon and the insurance company picks up the whole tab.
As for wifi, I bought a couple of TP-Link Deco units, easy to setup and the speed and coverage is fantastic.
Chin up, at least theres no more decorating for a few years.

Sorry hear what’s happened, good to hear you’re physically unscathed though and nice that you’re able to get back on here.

Thanks for all your kind replies, we are almost in our mobile home now, we have all the services and a friend kindly built us a ramp up to the door which is about 4-5 feet off the ground as its on a slope, but it doesn't have a any boards on it yet which makes entry somewhat precarious! they reckon it will be a year before we are back in the house The insurance company have been very good so far but there so many company's involved for different aspects of the work that it is taking quite a time. We should be the caravan this week if it ever stops raining!

After I sold my business I bought a derelict cottage and lived in a caravan on the site for three years whilst it was rebuilt and extended, I was on my own so no one else to consider, worked fine for me. :)

Modern caravans, if the one I stayed in on holiday recently ids anything to go by, are very comfy and pleasant places to be Peter. Mine had more mod-cons than my house and a superb propane-fired heating system...
