My Citroen App - past data

Unread post by Mathemagic-1970 »

So, I took delivery of my C5 Aircross in September and quite enjoy seeing the trip data that syncs to my phone.

However, my phone broke catastrophically and I had to buy a new one. I've connected it but only see the data from the trips since. Is there anyway of getting the app to sync the trip data from the start?

Had you not backed up your phone to somewhere? :)

I have the app, never seen anyway to upload previous data, only download the current data.

Sadly, no backup of the Citroen data. Nor photos.

It looks like I'll just have to start again! :)

That is a pity but maybe a lesson learned - I make a full backup of my phone every Sunday evening on one of two alternating resources which means I would only ever lose a week's info or possibly 2 weeks if the most recent one was unusable for any reason! Never needed so far but for the minimal effort to do it as I turn in I think it is worrh it!! :)

My phone did back up but not the Citroen data as far as I know. Unless it did and I just don't know where!

As an aside, when I first got the car, I thought that, that part of the app wouldbe usefull, but occasionally it would not record a 'journey' ⛔️, and guess what it was the one journey I wanted to look into. So I stopped looking at that part of the app.
Then, when I looked at the app you see if there was anyway to recall past data, it reset itself, right back to register a car with the VIN, but luckily the data was available since app install in April.

I have a love-hate relationship with MyCitroen, mainly hate.

For the future, if keeping the data is important to you, in the app tap on the pictogram of your head, choose settings, choose driving data, then choose one of the export options to save it elsewhere. Not exactly intuitive. I don't bother. When it misses a journey I've no idea why, no discernable pattern of missed vs un-missed.

I don't know if it would back up data in a recoverable format using a phone routine, not all apps do notably (Rishi and Boris please note) Whatsapp which only backs up your data if you do it from within the app. You can set Whatsapp to back up daily, weekly or whatever but as far as I can see the Citroen one is a manual process.

I get very frustated with the 'where's my car' bit of My Citroen - it always seemed to have yesterday's parking place even when you refreshed the app. By accident I've found how to make it work. You open, refresh, a few times if necessary, then close the app and reopen it. Somehow it doesn't refresh the where parked map until you close and re-open the whole app. When it works, go to my car can be very accurate and useful if you are parked in some giant open car park - no idea if it copes with multi story.

(When I go on holiday from a station or airport, my first holiday photo is always the car including a nearby sign - was it Floor 11 Row E area C or row C11 area E floor? .... I'll just look in my photos :))

I use What3Words when parking at the airport if it is a single level one and set a reminder in my phone for the date and approximate time I'll be returning.
