Peugeot Partner 2007 Brake Light Fault Help Please....

Dear All
My i first introduce myself as a new member to the Forum having just bought a Peugeot Partner Horizon 1.6hdi, Wheelchair Access Vehicle. My wife and i are lucky to have all four parents still alive even though we are in our early 60's.
The almost daily hospital/medical/Doctors/opticians/shopping etc runs required something i could carry them about in, along with various wheelchairs and mobility aids.
On that level the car is a game changer, and exactly fit for purpose. On the next level down............i dont think i have ever owned a car best with such a varied array of problems.
In its first 6 months its had a ramp repair, rear shocks, front brakes and drop links, fuel pressure and temp sensors, fuel pump, fuel pipes and filter, exhaust blah blah etc.
Today i got stopped by the police as had a brake light out! Its a RHD standard UL car and the left side light and high level lights work fine, with just the left out.
On a lovely autumn afternoon i checked the bulbs (swapped them out), earth to cluster, fuses (replaced just in case), cluster connections and cluster all of which look really good.
Ive ordered a new brake light switch, again just in case, but am now at a bit of a loss. My tiny brain cant work out why two lights will work but one not. Can anyone advise please?

Apologies i forgot to say that the rest of the cluster is fine and with a multimeter the peg reads 0.13 volts

Really need to see a wiring diagram. Is it a mk2 or mk3? could be either on that year. Even better what is your VIN?
Think you have wasted money on the switch if the other brake lights are working.

Thanks for the reply. Its a Mk1 to the best of my knowledge, thats 1996-2007 ish

mk1 (M49) up to around 2001
mk2 (M59) 2001 to 2007 (i have seen these registered as late as 2012)
mk3 (B9) 2007 - 2018
mk4 (K9) 2018 onward

VIN would be ideal, it will be auto masked from public view

If its a mk2 looks like they are fused seperatley.
Fuse 21 in the BSI covers the high level & nearside
Fuse 20 covers the offside

Thanks Again, that must make it a Mk2 maybe. Its VIN is VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]. Its a Partner Combi on the reg doc. I checked fuse 20 and 21 as per the handbook and both where fine. I changed them anyway..............just in case!

As you rightly say the 21 covers passenger side and high level which are ok, and 20 covers the drivers side which is dead. No towbar to get in the way either.

Remove Fuse 20 and check the wire connection coming from fuse 20 output for continuity to the bulb feed. You should have a short circuit. If not then a connector in the circuit, possibly under the front seats may be dirty or corroded.

Sometimes yes and sometimes no. Usually on the driver's side but may not be the case in your car. Only a suggestion rather than informed advice.

its a fairly simple circuit, is the fuse going live when you press the brake?
The output comes from pin 10 of the 16 way black connector of the under bonnet fusebox & goes directly to the lamp connector (pin 2), does not have any connectors on the way.
If the fuse is live them its going to be a case of following the wire back.

Exactly as i do when fault finding, i trace the circuit out with highlighters. Makes it much easier to visualise whats happening.
As for simple, it is in Citroen/Peugeot standards

Hi Wheeler, just a quick update on the electrical gremlins you were helping with last night. In my lunch time today i tried the following, but could do with some advice on my testing methodololgy......!
Based on the wiring diagram, i tried testing fuse 10 in the engine bay compartment, for voltage both with the pedal depressed and at rest. I couldnt see any voltage at all on my meter with the positive probe on the fuse and negative to the nearest earth point. Thi meant no voltage at the fuse box, at fuse 20 either.
Not really sure where the fuse 10 point in the engine bay black block goes to after that. Any suggestions? Cheers Mark
