Why is this

A chap up the road has Jaguar XF 3.0 diesel same year and engine as the C5 but paying less tax, why is that i thought they were the same engines his is automatic too.

If you look at the government website you'll find that tax ratings vary for a number of reasons, principally age and Euro emissions rating. The Jag may, for example, be newer with a better rating under the scheme.

We know it is a con but It's the same year etc as the C5.

Obviously i don't know i just thought being the same year engine etc it would the same tax but isn't.
As I said in the other post though, I don't need a 3.0 twin turbo diesel to go 10 miles a day and not every day and may well be less shortly.

Could be something ridiculous like one has stop/start & the other doesn't.
