In Desperate need of help PLEASE!

Unread post by Jaimeeb39 »

Hey i am begging for some help please!

I have a 2009 Citroen c3 Picasso 1.6HDI Diesel - No DPF

When driving, the engine will cut out and it will say anti pollution fault. If I take the key out and start it back up it’s starts fine. Sometimes I can drive 50 miles and it won’t happen then will happen again.

Its failed emissions test, puffs of black smoke from exhaust, sluggish acceleration (almost like I can tell it’s going to cut out and after it has and I’ve turned it back on it seemed to perk up) but otherwise seems to drive fine until it cuts out randomly.

We read the codes which led to changing the EGR Valve and changing Glow plugs.

But that hasn’t fixed it and it’s cut out again this morning, now there’s another new code that says fault fuel rail sensor….

Does anyone have any advice please? Getting pretty desperate as don’t have money to be throwing away. I don’t feel safe driving it but don’t know what else to do now!

When you say NO DPF what do you mean? :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Basics, have you replaced the fuel filter? any fuel rail or pressure fault you need to be sure the filter is not clogged, unfortunately you cant see the internals of the filter without cutting them open, how old is it?

It’s 2009, I can try those things, I’m just worried it’s some sort of ECU problem and is throwing random faults. I only say that as first couple of times it cut off the codes said egr valve and glow plugs, got those fixed, same thing has happened and now it’s saying something else?

It’s 2009,
Hopefully the filter is not 2009.... :rofl2:

Codes are just a starting point, the freeze frame data, live data and the context needs to be looked at, along with some proper diagnosis to try and figure out what is actually wrong with it.
