sonmethings loose

Unread post by espzetec »

when driving i can hear a rattle from the underside of my xantia. its coming from the back near the wheels. I sounds like an arch lining or something simialr is loose. when i shake the car to try and locate the rattle it doesnt happen. any ideas what it may be guys?

Whats it like on smooth/rough roads? i.e. does it disappear on smooth roads?

I was asking about the smooth road/rough road situation in case either:
something was fouling the wheel/suspension intermittently on larger bumps or
something on the suspension set-up was constantly rattling on smooth/rough roads.
Is it noisy if you freewheel downhill?
Where is the spare wheel kept?

its not the engien or anything if thats what your getting at mate. it occurs no matter what circumstances are when i go over rough ground or speed bumps etc. it sounds like to things of plastic slapping together.

Check the backbox of the exhaust. I had the same funny noise but never figured it out. The new owner DID and just moved the brackets a bit and it stopped (I still keep track of my beloved Xantia ... [:D])

Seeing as how you've got a problem with the height of the car that is quite psossibly the link dropped out of the height corrector, you don't think that there may be some connection by any chance??
