I forgot this had one when I went to see it and to be honest I nearly didn't take because of that, didn't say to David though.
But the more I am in it the more I hate it. If I want to use a handbrake I will, I dunt want it coming on when the engine stops.
I really think I should just sell it as i can't get used to a saloon plus needs a few hundred to get through the mot and the electric brake, no thanks.
I think while I am able to drive (don't know how long for though) I will stick to a proper handbrake.

On our cars the EPB comes on when you pull its switch and it can be left off with the engine not running by having the ignition lit up, foot on the brake pedal and then press the switch and remove the key. I got used to having one on our 308 over the last 5 years and often found when using the C5 with a manual handbrake tried to set off without releasing it. They make maintenance a bit more difficult though. Wonder how learners manage since most cars now have EPBs so will not have the skill to set off on a hill with a manual handbrake, never mind many driving instructors have electric cars. A relative only bothered passing the driving test in an automatic thinking in the future all cars will be autos. In the future if all cars are self driving all the time, for a driving test you just have to be able to open a door and get in then tell it where to go.

That is what I do but it is a nuisance i just don't like them plus as you say they cost a bloody fortune when they brake a they need to go on a computer, i mean honestly. Who the hell thought of that up.PaulC5 wrote: 16 Oct 2025, 12:49 On our cars the EPB comes on when you pull its switch and it can be left off with the engine not running by having the ignition lit up, foot on the brake pedal and then press the switch and remove the key.
While I am still able to drive i honestly don't know what i will end up driving. I don't think it will be the 320i estate i went to see the C5 in as I grudge the £450 a year for tax for an old 03 reg plus like this, needs a few hundred spent on it.
