1.5 Bluehdi Engine and EAT8 oil change review

Unread post by owl »

Yesterday I changed engine and EAT8 transmission oil (C5 Aircross 1.5 bluehdi). I want to share my opinions about that. I had 3 1.5 bluehdi engine before and used many engine oils. Yesterday I bought Ravenol VMP 5w30 (I prefer 5w30 instead of 0w30 because when I use 0w30 on 1.5 YHZ, engine is running very loud, it seems watery to me ) Ravenol VMP is on the list of STELLANTIS FPW9.55535/03 recommendation. HTHS 150C value is 3,7 which is excellent for protection. For EAT8, I bought Ravenol ATF T-ULV oil. I cannot compare before and after how smooth and silent runs both engine and transmission. If someone needs help for oil change EAT8, I can explain the steps.

Cheers!

Hi. There are generally two types of transmission oil replacement for the EAT8 transmission. First one is partial change. I mean usually 40-50% oil is drained the remaining oil stays inside the torque converter, valve body, and cooling lines. This is the recommended and safer method also I did this one. You can do it youtself at home. It is not difficult.
Second one is full oil change. You need to use a special machine that replaces nearly 100% of the oil. Old oil is pushed out while new oil is pumped in.
I want to say that Aisin generally does not strongly recommend full flush procedures, because high pressure can dislodge internal debris. This may lead to blockage in the valve body. It can increase the risk of transmission malfunction, especially in high-mileage units. For this reason, multiple partial fluid changes are considered a safer and more reliable approach.

So here you are partial oil change procedure step by step:
1. Warm up the transmission
Drive the vehicle until transmission oil reaches operating temperature (approx. 20-30 mins. driving)
2. Open the level (overflow) plug
Ensure it can be removed before draining
3. Drain the old oil
Remove the drain plug and let the oil fully drain
4. Reinstall the drain plug
5. Refill with new transmission oil
Add oil from the top fill port (its located on gearbox, under the air hose [left side of the battery] )
6. Start the engine
Keep the engine running
7. Bring transmission temperature to ~55–60C ( easiest way is OBD, otherwise you may now hit the correct temp. For example 30 mins idle approx. 35C )
8. Cycle through all gears
Slowly shift through P–R–N–D to circulate oil
9. Set the oil level
Open the level plug (Located inside the drain hole [hex]) while the engine is running
Allow excess oil to drain until it becomes a thin stream
10. Close the level plug

Once the oil drips lightly, tighten the plug
