Citroen cars recalled over brake pedal fault

Citroen has told drivers of its current C3 model range to immediately stop using their cars due to a fault.

The carmarker issued a "stop-drive" recall - an urgent notice to immediately stop driving a vehicle because of a severe safety defect - over an issue with the brake pedal box.

The whole C3 range is affected, which includes the following models:

Citroen C3 (2025-present)
Citroen e-C3 (2024-present)
Citroen C3 Aircross (2025-present)
Citroen e-C3 Aircross (2025-present)

Stellantis, the owner of Citroen, told Which? that around 1,100 of these cars had been delivered to UK drivers.

Drivers who have one of the affected models are being offered courtesy cars while the brake pedal assembly is checked and fixed.

A Stellantis spokesperson told Money: "The safety of its customers is Stellantis' highest priority. During our regular quality process checks, an investigation revealed that certain right-hand-drive Citroen C3 and Citroen C3 Aircross could have a pedal box assembly that is not to the correct specification and is at risk of loss of brake capability.

"If this were to happen, the automatic emergency braking and the electronic parking brake would remain fully operational.

"We have initiated a stop-drive action to protect all customers of the 1,100 Citroen C3 and C3 Aircross affected."

Customers have been urged to contact customer services or their local Citroen dealership if they have any concerns.

In June, Citroen issued a recall for all C3 second-generation and DS 3 first-generation vehicles made between 2009 and 2019 due to the risk of the airbag rupturing in a collision, which can cause injury or death.
